Spider Control: The Latest Research and Practical IPM Control Measures for Spiders
Chaz Estrada, Nisus
Why are spiders so difficult to control? Despite their similarities, spiders and insects have many behavioral and physiological differences that make them more difficult to control. Spiders are often difficult to manage until you change your approach to these pests. When dealing with nuisance ants, we identify each species to determine if ants will feed on sweet liquid baits, protein gel baits, or granular baits, and which species may completely ignore baits and require other methods. When it comes to spiders, many employ a similar broad-scale treatment irrespective of behavioral patterns, habitat requirements, or feeding preferences of different species.

Flies are some of the most annoying pests we deal with day-to-day. In a rapidly growing state like Utah, flies are a nuisance in homes, businesses, and the great outdoors. In addition to their annoying habits, flies also jeopardize human (and animal!) health by carrying pathogens, disease, and filth. In this talk we cover the history, biology, and control methods for these devious Dipterans.
